  1. Abortion clinics are health care facilities other than hospitals and physicians’ offices that provide abortion care. Physicians’ offices that provided 400 or more abortions in a calendar year are also counted as clinics.
  2. Pregnancy Risk Assessment Monitoring System (PRAMS) survey data was not available from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for any year in the period 2012–2017; instead, the proportion of births in each pregnancy desire category was predicted through multivariable regression (see Methodology Appendix)
